In His Own Words:
So there are hundreds of reasons that people love CrossFit, because it’s hard, because of the great community and camaraderie, because it’s a great way to get in shape, because it’s fun, and I love it for all those reasons and then some. But if I had to pick one reason why I love Crossfit it would have to be because of it’s unique ability to test my limits, to make me push to that breaking point and then decide if I am going to cross that line into some uncharted, painful badland. It’s in that split second between reps when that battle rages in your head between “to stop,” or, “to keep going.” I love that pretty much every workout will take me to that place and I’m forced to make that decision. I can’t think of too many other things that will make you question yourself like that, and that’s why I love Crossfit.

Why do you want to coach?
I coach because I’m really passionate about it and it gives me the chance to demonstrate that passion on top of showing people how to better themselves. It also gives me the opportunity to teach people how to achieve things they never thought they could do, and then when they discover they can do it because of what I showed or told them, it’s an incredible feeling.

  • CrossFit Level 1

Athletic Background

  • Club Soccer
  • Triathlon

Her Day Job:
Government contracting, currently supporting JIEDDO‘s efforts to aid in wounded EOD warrior recovery and networking, as well as efforts to analyze incidents to prevent future injury and develop strategic direction for irregular warfare.

In her own words:
I like to say I am an athlete but not naturally athletic. I was not born with natural talent in sport, balance, strength, coordination, or endurance, but I challenge myself daily to improve in all areas. It took me 2 years to be able to barely complete the minimum 8 dead hang pull ups required to apply for the Navy EOD program, which I spent 8 years in before transferring to the Navy Reserves. One of the best things about Crossfit is it is transformative for both the naturally athletic and those athletes like me who strive for constant athletic improvement. CrossFit is great because I love the fact that anyone can do it and benefit from its unique definition of fitness. It is also a great additive to any sport program, with the benefits being wide-ranging and often unexpected (i.e. better balance and body awareness for me during soccer and cycling).

Why do you want to coach?
As in my “day job,” I thrive on seeing those in my charge succeed. It is an amazing reward to see the light bulb go on for the first time, like when a CrossFitter gets the depth they have been trying for months to achieve in the squat, or when an athlete to overcome a mental block or physical plateau to reach a new PR. Those events for the people I coach are as exciting for me as achieving the progress myself.

I love CrossFit because the PR’s at the box soon carry over to your life outside the box. I joined CFMC to get in better shape…and became a better person. I also love it because it’s badass.

Why do you coach?
I teach CrossFit because it has helped me progress as a person so much that I want to help others see what it can do for them. I love having a role in changing someone’s life for the better.

Athletic Background:

  • Lacrosse (currently playing MLL for the Ohio Machine)
  • Football (Recreational)
  • Volleyball (Recreational

His Day Job:
Project manager for John J. Kirlin, LLC

CrossFit Competitions:

  • 2012 Cold War Mid-Atlantic Team Competition (5th overall)

In his own words:
I love the team atmosphere and the competitiveness in CrossFit. You can’t go to a normal gym and find that.

Why do you want to coach?
I coach CrossFit because I love helping people accomplish their goals and exceeding their own expectations. Everyone needs a little encouragement and coaching once in a while, and a person can only go as far as their mind will allow them to without help from a coach.
